HOLA! We said goodbye to beautiful and tropical Cancun and welcomed back to the cold and frigid state of New Jersey today. Our spring break trip was AMAZING! It was perfect, except obviously one more day would've been ideal. Cancun is absolutely gorgeous and all-inclusive was the best decision I've ever made. Traveling with friends is so fun and exciting and the nurses-to-be made the most of our beautiful 4 day trip to the island.
Day One: Destination: GR Solaris, Cancun. Our flight left at 6:45, and of course it decided to blizzard the night before. We all had worries that our plane would be delayed and that we would have to push back our arrival to Cancun. We stayed in a hotel in Baltimore so we would have easy access to the airport.... wrong. We planned to take a shuttle tot he airport at 4:15 only to find out the snow had delayed all transportation (except our flight) including the taxis and shuttles. This was interesting start to our morning. However, we caught our flight with a connecting second flight in Charlotte. Since it had been snowing and a "wintry mix", we spent an extra hour on the plane before we took off from Baltimore. This caused us to have 7 minutes in between flights... YIKES. And yes, we ran through the airport. Charlotte seemed nice for the 3 minutes that we were on land.
We started off our day to arrive to a misty fog, which ended up turning into a light drizzle. However, a little rain didn't stop anybody! While waiting in line, we were brought drinks and margaritas as we checked into our hotel. Like... oh welcome. We went to the food place, which served EXCELLENT buffet food (especially chips & guac--- our diet of the week in addition to several drinks), met some hispanic workers (Gilberto in particular) and LOVED the service we got. They were the most friendly and happy people and they waited on our hand & foot. They also taught us to salsa dance.
After one too many drinks and too much dancing in public, we went to the swim-up bar and relaxed by the pool. We went up to the room to get ready for a nice at the Mediterranean Dinner shortly followed by passing out at 8:30 pm.
Day 2: Awake and ready to go by 7:30 AM, we headed to the wonderful breakfast buffet, beach, met up with some friends who also stayed at our resort. Beautiful day filled with laughs, drinks and sun burn. Strawberry daquiris, "tropical storm" (my favorite), pina coladas and bay breezes all week long!
We had made a reservation at the fine dining restaurant for later on that night as well. It was delicious! It was Carribean-themed. They had various themes for each day. We definitely got our moneys worth here.
Then came karaoke night... Hilary Duff was the singer of choice. We met some guys from Wisconsin (yeah, people actually live there) and enjoyed our night with the ladies.
Day Three: We started the day with a boat trip to the Great Mayan Reef where we snorkeled and we even saw a stingray! It was a beautiful day and it was an awesome experience! Not to mention, it was all day happy hour and all-inclusive. Snorkeling is a workout!!
Back to the beach we went.. and we spent a ton of time in the pool today. This picture is the definition of happiness. I don't think I moved from that raft for atleast 3 hours.
This was our last night so we went to the themed ball-room dinner... delicious! Then hung out at the lounge. Did some shopping, drinks as we prepared for our departure.
I LOVED Cancun! Everything was amazing and all-inclusive is a must-do. These girls are awesome and nurses officially took over Cancun! Such a wonderful week!
